The Hong Kong Airlines (HX) baggage policy for regular basic fares include the following:

  • 1 personal item - Fee free
  • 1 carry-on item - Fee free
  • Checked baggage allowance determined by flight route
  • Overweight and oversize bags - Applicable fees per bag depending on route
  • Sports equipment - subject to baggage restrictions and overweight/oversized fees, if applicable

What is Hong Kong Airlines' (HX) carry-on baggage policy?

Hong Kong Airlines (HX) allows 1 personal item (purse, briefcase, laptop bag) per passenger fee free, as well as 1 piece of carry-on luggage for Economy Class passengers and 2 pieces for Business Class passengers.

Carry-on should not exceed the following size and weight restrictions:

  • 45 linear inches (22 x 14 x 9 in) or 115 centimeters (56 x 36 x 23 cm) including handles and wheels
  • 7 kg or 15 pounds

NOTE: Bulkhead seats do not have under seat storage, therefore, all carry-on baggage must be stowed in the overhead bin during take-off and landing.

What is Hong Kong Airlines' (HX) checked baggage / hold luggage policy?

Hong Kong Airlines' (HX) standard checked baggage / hold luggage policy is two pieces of baggage, each not exceeding 62 in/158 cm of length, width and height, and each not exceeding 50 lb for Economy Class passengers and 70 lb for Business Class passengers. Platinum, Gold and Silver Fortune Wings Club members get an extra allowance of 1 piece of luggage fitting the restrictions for their class set above. This is applicable on the following routes:

  • Between Hong Kong and Saipan, Canada, the United States, Australia, or New Zealand
  • Between Area 3 and Saipan, Canada, the United States, Australia, or New Zealand via Hong Kong
  • Within Australia and New Zealand

On all other flights, Economy Class passengers have a limit of 20 kg of checked luggage and Business Class passengers have a limit of 30 kg of checked luggage. Platinum and Gold Fortune Wings Club members get an extra allowance of 30 kg in both classes, and Silber Fortune Wings members get an extra allowance of 20 kg in both classes. No single piece of luggage should exceed 32 kg and 62 in/158 cm of length, width and height.

Are there fees for baggage on Hong Kong Airlines (HX)?

There are no fees for baggage within your baggage allowance. However, fees are levied for excess baggage.

What is Hong Kong Airlines' (HX) fee for overweight baggage?

Hong Kong Airlines (HX) overweight checked baggage / hold luggage fees follow:

  • Flights within Zone 1 (China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia, Cambodia and Malaysia):
  • $10 USD per kg above the free allowance
  • Flights within Zone 2 (Japan and Korea):
  • $30 USD per kg above the free allowance
  • Flights between Zone 1 and Zone 2:
  • $20 USD per kg above the free allowance
  • Flights between Hong Kong and Saipan, Canada, the United States, Australia, or New Zealand:
  • $150 USD for baggage between 50 lbs and 70 lbs and no more than 62 in of length, width and height
  • $250 USD for baggage between 50 lbs and 70 lbs and between 62 in and 80 in of length, width and height

What is Hong Kong Airlines' (HX) fee for excess baggage?

All carry-on baggage exceeding the limitations and/or allowance will be stowed in the aircraft hold at a charge of HDK 500, regardless of whether the checked baggage allowance has been used.

Hong Kong Airlines (HX) will charge the following for excess baggage on flights between Hong Kong and Saipan, Canada, the United States, Australia, or New Zealand:

  • $300 USD for a bag up to 50 lb and 62 in of length, width and height
  • $400 USD for a bag up to 70 lb and 62 in of length, width and height
  • $500 USD for a bag up to 70 lb and 80 in of length, width and height

What is Hong Kong Airlines' (HX) fee for oversize baggage?

Hong Kong Airlines (HX) will charge the following fees for any bags between 62-80 inches on flights between Hong Kong and Saipan, Canada, the United States, Australia, or New Zealand:

  • $200 USD for a bag that is no more than 50 lb
  • $250 USD for a bag that is between 50 lb and 70 lb

Are there fees for sports equipment on Hong Kong Airlines (HX)?

Sports equipment is subject to standard baggage fees in excess of your free baggage allowance. However a free bicycle allowance for one bicycle of no more than 25 kg on flights between Australia, New Zealand, Taiwan, Japan, and Hainan. Passengers may contact the Hong Kong Airlines Call Center at least 48 hours prior to departure to reserve this service.
