If so, check to see if the airline you are flying with has an app. This post takes a close look at 8 Australian/Pacific airlines for both Apple (iTunes) and Android (Google Play) devices. Air New Zealand (NZ):
Air New Zealand’s mobile app keeps you in the loop throughout your whole flight experience. The app has real-time flight information including gate and seat updates, boarding and departure times and more. The app has a mobile ticket feature where you can scan your mobile boarding pass to print checked bag tags at any airport kiosk, board the aircraft and, if you are eligible, enter the Air New Zealand lounge.
One of the coolest features of their app however is the ability to order a barista-made coffee through Air New Zealand’s app once you have checked in to their Koru Clubs located in airports around New Zealand as well as the international lounge at Auckland Airport.
Worried you may forget an important piece of flight information? With this app, you can enable push notifications to remind you of any flight information- you can even have the app send you weather notifications for your destination so you know exactly what to pack for your vacation. You can also use this app to check in for your flight, book and change your flight, and add flight information to your mobile calendar which enables you to share your travel itinerary with friends and family. The Air New Zealand app also allows you to keep track of your Airpoints Dollars and has a Best Fares function that shows you the best travel deals.
Air Tahiti Nui (TN):
With the Air Tahiti Nui's In The Air Entertainment App, you will be able to have access to the entire Inflight Entertainment program, choose your entertainment before you fly and create your own playlists. If you want to have personalized entertainment throughout your flight, this app is perfect for you.
Air Vanuatu (NF):
Air Vanuatu’s app allows you to utilize your personal device to connect to the onboard Wi-Fi and select the entertainment of your choice during your flight. Air Vanuatu offers: TV shows including top-rated comedies, drama and variety shows and 6 radio shows featuring the best pop, classic hits and of course music from the Pacific, Vanuatu.
Fiji Airways (FJ):
The Fiji Airways app allows you to book your flight, check-in, see your up to date flight status and more with just a tap of a finger. The app also allows you to enable notifications so you are always aware of any flight changes.
Jetstar (JQ):
Jetstar’s app is perfect for guiding you to a seamless travel experience. The app allows you to check in to your flight on the go and then offers directions throughout the airport of your origin so you know exactly how to reach your gate. The app will also allow you to enable notifications to see your flight status and receive any live updates pertaining to your journey.
Tigerair Australia (TT):
Tigerair Australia’s app lets you search for all the best deals available across Australia and South East Asia right in the palm of your hand. Once you find the deal you want, you can then book your flight directly on the app. After booking, the app will save all your travel details on the home screen of the app to keep you as organized as possible. Once you begin your travel excursion, the app is perfect for entertaining you throughout the duration of your on board experience. All you need to do is connect your personal device to the on board Wi-Fi and unleash a plethora of entertainment options including blockbuster movies, Hollywood TV shows and a wide range of music.
Virgin Australia (VA):
The Virgin Australia app allows you to retrieve and view upcoming booked flights, request and manage your on board seat(s), track your Velocity Points and sign up for the Velocity Digital Membership card to unlock more deals. The app also has notifications to make sure you are kept up to date on any and all flight information throughout your travels, as well as offers you directions throughout the airport.
Aircalin (SB):
The Aircalin app is primarily for entertainment. Before your flight, download this app so that once you step onto the aircraft to begin your journey, you can enjoy a personalized entertainment system. Once on board, connect your own device to the internal Wi-Fi and begin choosing which entertainment option you want. The app includes a wide range of movies, TV series, music, kids programs and more.
